Rosehill Final Field & Barrier Draw – 2011 Phar Lap Stakes

The 2011 Phar Lap Stakes final field and barrier draw has been released for the $175,000 race that will feature as one of the many Group races on Myer Ladies Day at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday March 12, 2011.

The Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes is scheduled to run as Race 6 at 3.30pm (AEDST) on Saturday and will feature a nine horse starting field.

Odds and betting information will become available at Luxbet shortly.

The 1,500 metre Phar Lap Stakes will be run under set weight conditions and is open to three-year-olds only.

Gai Waterhouse’s Halekulani has accepted for the 2011 Phar Lap Stakes final field, with the gelding looking for his first Group victory.

Halekulani finished third in the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes last start behind roughie Agister, and will be hoping to improve in the 2011 Phar Lap Stakes.

The Encosta De Lago gelding has drawn barrier six for the race and will be ridden by apprentice jockey Tommy Berry.

Bullbars

Bullbars will jump from barrier 8 in the 2011 Phar Lap Stakes

Fresh off his gutsy performance to finish second in the Australian Guineas is Peter Snowden’s Bullbars, who has drawn barrier eight in the 2011 Phar Lap Stakes.

Bullbars has won two of his eight starts in his career so far and has only failed to place on two occasions.

The Elusive Quality gelding will be attempting the 1,500 metre distance for the first time and will carry 56.5 kilograms in Saturday’s Phar Lap Stakes.

Also included in the 2011 Phar Lap Stakes final field are Michael Kent’s Blackie, John O’Shea’s Sworn To Secrecy and Anthony Cummings’ Shadows In The Sun.
