2011 Todman Stakes Final Field & Barrier Draw

Sepoy

Sepoy will run in the 2011 Todman Stakes on the way to the Golden Slipper

The 2011 Todman Stakes, also known as the Todman Slipper Trial, will feature the lightning fast Sepoy when the race runs this Saturday March 19, 2011, at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.

Sepoy will make his only appearance in the 2011 Todman Stakes since winning the Blue Diamond Stakes last start and before contesting the 2011 Golden Slipper for which he is currently $1.90 favourite at Luxbet.

The Group 2 Todman Stakes will be run under set weight conditions and will be open to two-year-old colts and geldings only.

The $300,000 race has only attracted a tiny field of five runners, including the current third favourite for the 2011 Golden slipper at Luxbet, Foxwedge.

Foxwedge has drawn barrier one in the Todman Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Nash Rawiller.

Peter Snowden’s Sepoy will be hoping to make it five from five unbeaten runs with another win in this Saturday’s race.

Sepoy won all three legs of the Blue Diamond and has earned himself almost $800,000 in prize money from just four starts.

Sepoy will be ridden by regular jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who rode him to victory in last starts Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield where he won by an astonishing 4.5 lengths.

This will be Sepoy’s first test at running on Sydney’s clockwise tracks, with jockey Kerrin McEvoy confident his ride is a natural on the right-handed tracks.

“He handled it no worries at all,” McEvoy said after Sepoy’s first Sydney gallop.

“While there wasn’t any race-day pressure, he worked really well.”

The rest of the 2011 Todman Stakes field includes Smart Missile, Straight Gold and Kid Kobe.
