2011 Ranvet Stakes – Final Field & Barrier Draw

The 2011 Ranvet Stakes will run this Saturday March 12, 2011, as part of Myer Ladies Day at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and the final field and barrier draw has just been announced.

The Group 1 Ranvet Stakes field has been reduced to just seven starters after 16 were initially nominated.

Worth $400,000, the 2011 Ranvet Stakes is a 2,000 metre standard weight for age race open to horses aged three-years-old and upwards.

Maluckyday

Maluckyday will start in the 2011 Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill

Amongst the small 2011 Ranvet Stakes final field is Maluckyday, who will be second-up on Saturday after running a solid fourth in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes.

Maluckyday, who finished second to Americain in the 2010 Melbourne Cup, has drawn barrier three for the 2011 Ranvet Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Jim Cassidy.

Odds for Maluckyday and the other six horses in the 2011 Ranvet Stakes field will be available at Luxbet closer to Saturday’s race.

Gai Waterhouse’s Descarado has also accepted for the 2011 Ranvet Stakes final field.

Descarado finished sixth in the Chipping Norton Stakes on March 5, 2011, and will be looking for his first win since claiming victory in the Caulfield Cup on October 16, 2010.

The four-year-old High Chaparral gelding has drawn barrier four in the 2011 Ranvet Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Nash Rawiller.

Also included in the 2011 Ranvet Stakes final field is Shaune Ritchie’s New Zealand horse Keep The Peace, who is fresh off a Group 1 win in New Zealand’s Haunui Farm Classic.

Keep The Peace will be looking for her first win on Australian soil, after she disappointed in the Group 1 Australian Derby on April 10, 2010, due to illness.

Keep The Peace has been allocated 57 kilograms in the 2011 Ranvet Stakes and will be ridden by apprentice jockey James McDonald.

The remainder of the 2011 Ranvet Stakes final field includes Joseph Pride’s Sacred Choice, Chris Waller’s Hawk Island, David Payne’s Illustrious Blue and Anthony Cumming’s Zavite.
