Karrakatta Plate Field Set For 2011 Race At Ascot

The Perth Autumn Racing Carnival will feature Western Australia’s richest race for two-year-olds this weekend after the 2011 Karrakatta Plate field was finalised.

The Group 2 race is worth half a million dollars and will have the full contingent of 20 runners.

At the top of the list is Benny’s Halo which has shown great form in three career races.

He won the first two in convincing style before suffering his first loss with a second placing last start in Ascot.

The horse that beat him was Rebel Call, a great effort given it was his first up run.

The re-match is a tantalising prospect with Rebel Call’s trial form suggesting he’s destined for big things.

He’ll have it a bit tougher though out in barrier 15 with Benny’s Halo in eight.

Trying to spoil the party though will be the slightly more experienced Western Fever in gate 10.

He’s had five races this year with two wins and two placings already giving him $170,000 in prize money.

As always in two-year-old races any number of runners could cause an upset making the betting extremely exciting.
