2011 Sky High Stakes Nominations – Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival

2011 Coolmore Classic Day is due to take place at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday March 19, the latest Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival meet featuring a cracker nine-race programme including the $100,000 Listed Sky High Stakes (1900m).

A quality handicap, the 2011 Sky High Stakes has drawn 15 nominees with the Robert Hickmott-trained C’est La Guerre the top-rated entry.

Hickmott has also nominated Zabeel gelding Base coming off back-to-back victories in Melbourne this season and Danehill Dancer five-year-old I’m Imposing for Saturday’s showdown.

Peter Moody’s Macau import Luen Yat Forever and veteran eight-year-old galloper Vision And Power are the other top rated nominees for this year’s Sky High Stakes.

Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller has nominated a trio from his stables with last Saturday’s Group 3 Randwick City Stakes runner-up Alexander Of Hales, Beijing Boy and Syreon.

Danehill eight-year-old Alexander Of Hales has shown lots of promise this season having also run second to Hawk Island in the Listed Parramatta Cup (2000m) and is one of the early favourites for the Sky High Stakes 2011.

Lesser known entry Lamasery could prove a great outsider to back at Luxbet if accepted, David Vandye’s Commands four-year-old yet to finish out of the money in their 10 career starts that has produced seven wins including back-to-back victories over 1800m this preparation.

All the Coolmore Classic Day final fields will be out tomorrow including those for the two Group 1 highlights, the 2011 Coolmore Classic and 2011 Ranvet Stakes.

Races.com.au will be the first to publish the list of acceptors, barrier draws, Rosehill race form guides and winning betting tips so stay tuned.
