A capacity field of sixteen fillies will line up...
Pressday had a disappointing run in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes last start when he ran 10th in a 13 horse field after jumping slowly from the gates and became blocked for a run.
While betting support has been directed at favourite Ilovethiscity, paying $2.40 at Luxbet, Chris Waller believes that his horse is capable of causing an upset in the 2011 Randwick Guineas.
“I’m certainly not just hoping, I think he’s certainly good enough to do it and I’m sure he can,” Waller said.
“His trial was good last week, we used it to help get his confidence levels up and teach him to win, if there is such a thing.”
Pressday was unlucky in the barrier draws, drawing gate 11 for the 2011 Randwick Guineas, but will come in to gate 10 after the scratching of Masquerader from the field.
“It was disappointing to see the barrier draw, 11 of 11, but I would probably sooner be in that barrier than seven or eight because we know he can do a few things wrong which we’ve tried to work over and get on top of,” Waller said.
“At least from that barrier if he is tardy away we can just drop back and make our run when we need to make our run, rather than being back and being dictated to if we had an inside draw.”
Chris Waller is hoping that Pressday will be his first Randwick Guineas winner, after Triple Honour missed out by a nose to Weekend Hussler in 2008.
