Pinker Pinker Wins Flemington Race 8 – 2011 Schweppervescence Trophy Results

Pinker Pinker

Favourite Pinker Pinker wins the 2011 Schweppervescence Trophy

The punters’ favourite and the tip of the field, Greg Eurell’s in-form filly Pinker Pinker has won the last Group race at Flemington this afternoon taking out the $150,000 Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) in a determined display.

The daughter of Reset was coming off a good win in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 26 and form held in Flemington Race 8 today with Pinker Pinker backing up beautifully to win successive Group 2 autumn features.

The favourite was given a tough run with little room caught on the rails after jumping from barrier one.

But Pinker Pinker and jockey Dwayne Dunn didn’t give in, boxing on solidly.

Lady Lynette bounced into the lead early before Peter Moody’s Storm Burst whipped up around the field to hit the front while Culminate moved up to settle into second with 800m left to travel.

On the home straight the Michael Moroney-trained Platinum Passion snared the front run while Gail moved up strongly to challenge.

Pinker Pinker finally found some room to charge and take the equal lead with Gail and Platinum Passion and trio two battled it out up to the line

In a photo for the trifecta, Pinker Pinker dived right at the finish and narrowly nudged out Platinum Passion to win by a nose with Gail in third.

Pinker Pinker has now won four of her nine career starts with Eurell naming the $400,000 Group 1 Storm Queen Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Golden Slipper Day, April 2 as her next major assignment.

There’s still one final race on the Super Saturday programme at Flemington this afternoon to enjoy a punt on with the $125,000 Listed TAB $500,000 First4 Jackpot Stakes (1400m) set to jump at 4:45pm (AEDST).
