Adelaide Cup 2011 Betting Tips & Preview

The $400,000 Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) will bring Morphettville Racecourse to life this Monday March 14 and here the team have the best 2011 Adelaide Cup betting tips.

The 2011 Adelaide Cup is scheduled to run as Morphettville Race 8 on Monday, due to jump at 4:35pm (AEDST).

Currently there are 19 horses engaged in this year’s Adelaide Cup field following the unfortunate withdrawal of #4 Lady Avacan from the field after the mare had to be put down this morning due to a broken leg.

Leading the Adelaide Cup betting markets at a quote of $4.20 through Luxbet is King Diamond.

Mark Kavanagh’s Danewin four-year-old is a bred stayer with Zabeel in his blood so the breeding for the two mile trip is there.

King Diamond may have a wider barrier 14 draw to contend from on Monday, but the Flemington raider has the consistency and form to overcome.

Last Saturday on March 5 they won the Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) at Flemington, which was King Diamond’s fourth win from five starts.

Despite the obvious claims King Diamond has, the team are tipping an upset Adelaide Cup result this year and have #2 Guyno rated special to win.

Guyno (left) is our tip to win the 2011 Adelaide Cup

  • Adelaide Cup Winner: #2 Guyno – Rated Special to Win – Bet now at Luxbet

Sitting at nice $7.50 odds at Luxbet, the Lou Luciani-trained Guyno can win the Adelaide Cup on Monday. Drawn better than the favourite, Guyno is set to jump from barrier seven as the O’Reilly gelding seeks their third win on the trot.

After running a game second beaten less than half a length in the Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year’s Day, Guyno went on to take out the Listed Mornington Cup (2400m) on February 16 before claiming a Group 3 win in the Lord Reims Stakes (2600m) at this track last Saturday.

  • 2nd: #3 King Diamond

Favourite’s form cannot be ignored, will run a close second in the winning Adelaide Cup Quinella.

  • 3rd: #7 Vesper

Rated a $13 chance to win at Luxbet, the Robert Hickmott-trained Vesper is out unsuitably wide drawing barrier 17, which is a shame for connections as this Zabeel gelding was impressive in their Listed Victoria Gold Cup (2000m) win at Caulfield a fortnight ago and comes into Monday’s race having run second to King Diamond in the Roy Higgins last start.

  • 4th: #6 Maunatrice

One of the single-figure chances in the Adelaide Cup odds paying $8.50 through Luxbet. Drawn ideally in barrier five, the Darren Weir-trained mare was just defeated on the line by Guyno in the Lord Reims last start before which she won the Port Adelaide Cup. Trip is just a little too far for her.
