2011 VRC Sire’s Produce Stakes Form Guide

Masthead should surge home lage in the 2011 VRC Sires Produce Stakes

#1 – Masthead (Barrier – 7) (55kgs)

  • Trainer: Lee Freedman
  • Jockey: Craig Williams
  • Career Stats: 4s – 1w – 2p
  • Last Start: 3rd at Caulfield

Third in the Blue Diamond won by Sepoy and a winner of the Inglis Two-year-old classic before that. Yet to run over 1400m but form suggests he’ll certainly be surging home late.

  • Trainer: John Mcardle
  • Jockey: Chris Symons
  • Career Stats: 4s – 1w – 2p

Sixth in the Blue Diamond but ran home well after being 13th at the 400m. Third in the Inglis Two-year-old only beaten a length by Masthead. Against this field huge place chance.

#3 – Helmet (Barrier – 1) (55kgs)

  • Trainer: Peter Snowden
  • Jockey: Mark Zahra
  • Career Stats: 3s – 2w – 1p
  • Last Start: 1st at Rosehill

This horse has won back to back races after a debut third and looks in tremendous tough. Steps up in class in this event but has the run of the race from barrier one, big chance.

  • Trainer: Robbie Laing
  • Jockey: Damien Oliver
  • Career Stats: 5s – 1w – 1p
  • Last Start: 8th at Caulfield

Was never in the Blue Diamond after drawin gpoorly and has an almost identical abrrier for this one. Did run fourth in the Prelude and second in the Preview so has proved he’s in this class of horse. Decent value place hope.

  • Trainer: Robert Smerdon
  • Jockey: Jason Maskiell
  • Career Stats: 3s – 2w – 0p

Won by half a length in the Breeder’s Stakes to make it two in a row. Never run the 1400m but signs are he’ll like the trip. Drifting in betting but has winning form.

  • Trainer: Danny O’Brien
  • Jockey: Ben Melham

  • Trainer: Rick Hore-Lacy

Horrible debut at Hillside but form has improved with two second place finishes in a row. Last start second at Flemington at huge $61 odds so he’ll be in a lot after that.
