2011 Auraria Stakes Field – Adelaide Cup Day

The 2011 Auraria Stakes or the ‘Schweppervescence Stakes’ will signal the start of the Group racing on Adelaide Cup Day in Morphettville on Monday the 14th.

The full field limit of 16 horses has been mustered and there are a few names worth special mention in the $115,000 race.

Precious Lorraine is the top weight of the three-year-old fillies carrying 57.5kgs.

She’ll jump from gate three and is desperately seeking a return to form after failing in the Mitty’s Vanity first up last start.

She’ll be up against the horse that won the Mitty’s Vanity in amazing style with Autumn sensation Southern Speed also entered in the 2011 Auraria Stakes.

She was three from three going into last week but a horrible barrier draw made it too tough finishing unplaced in the Australian Guineas.

Always Discreet is another contender which added yet another second placing to her résumé last start behind Light Of Heaven in the Fillies Classic.

She’s now had a win and six second placings from her last seven starts, an incredible stat and one which is certain to included her in every punters trifecta.

The horse’s which placed third and fourth in the Fillies Classic have also backed up with Absolutely jumping from gate five and Sean Baile Mor wide in barrier 14.
