2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes – Final Field

News - Autumn Racing - Race Previews
9 March 2011

The 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes is gearing up to be an incredible display of some of the country’s most talented two-year-old fillies when it runs as part of Randwick Guineas Day at Warwick Farm this Saturday March 12, 2011.

The 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes final field was released today and has named horses such as Karuta Queen, Pane In The Glass and Shared Reflections in the starting line-up.

The Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes is worth $125,000 and is run over 1,200 metres.

Running as Race 4 at Warwick Farm, the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes is due to jump at 2.57pm (AEDST) on Saturday.

Odds for the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes final field will become available at Luxbet shortly.

Karuta Queen is the highest profile acceptance in the race, being the early Golden Slipper second favourite, paying odds of $7.50 at Luxbet.

Karuta Queen has remained unbeaten in her first four runs, including the Wyong Magic Millions Classic and the Gold Coast $2 million Magic Millions.

Whether or not the Not A Single Doubt filly will run in Saturday’s Sweet Embrace Stakes is still uncertain, after she drew the second widest barrier of 11 in the race.

Her trainer, Nevill Layt, has been open about the fact that he would make his decision about whether to run his talented filly in the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes, or in the Listed Black Opal in Canberra on Sunday, depending on how she drew in the barriers.

”I’m all for it (The Black Opal),” Layt has said.

”If she draws one to seven, there’s every chance she will run at home (in the Black Opal), it’s all going to come down to where she draws the best.”

Should Karuta Queen not run, a sure favourite will be John Thompson’s Pane In The Glass, who has won all three of her previous starts.

Pane In The Glass, who’s wins already include the $250,000 Inglis Nursery and the $251,000 Inglis Classic, has accrued $332,000 in prize money in her short career and has previously won over the 1,200 metre distance.

Pane In The Glass has drawn well and will jump from barrier five and be ridden by jockey Jim Byrne in the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes.

Gai Waterhouse’s Shared Reflections will be looking for the second win of her career, after the two-year-old filly finished third in the Listed Widden Stakes last start on February 12, 2011.

Shared Reflections will be attempting the 1,200 metre distance for the first time and will be ridden by jockey Nash Rawiller from barrier seven.
