2011 Skyline Stakes Final Field Released

The 2011 Skyline Stakes will kick off the Group racing on Warwick Farm’s Randwick Guineas Day this Saturday March 12, 2011, and the 2011 Skyline Stakes final field was released today.

A total of eleven horses have accepted for the 2011 Skyline Stakes final field, and will compete for the $125,000 prize money on offer.

The Group 3 Skyline Stakes is open to two-year-old colts and geldings and will be run over 1,200 metres and under set-weight conditions.

The 2011 Skyline Stakes final field includes Grahame Begg’s Written Consent, who is chasing his first win after finishing second in his first two starts.

The Written Tycoon colt finished second by a nose to Diamond To Pegasus, who is also part of the 2011 Skyline Stakes final field, in the Listed PHD Canonbury Stakes last start at Randwick.

Diamond To Pegasus has won two of his previous four starts, and finished sixth last start in the 2011 Silver Slipper Stakes on February 26, 2011.

Gerald Ryan is represented in the 2011 Skyline Stakes final field by Hot Snitzel.

Hot Snitzel is also nominated for the Listed Black Opal at Canberra this Sunday, but his trainer will decide where to run him based on whether or not talented filly Karuta Queen is in the field.

”If it goes around it’ll just win (the Black Opal) with its leg in the air,” Ryan said.

”She’s taken everything that’s been thrown at her, in my mind she should be favourite for the (Golden) Slipper.”

Katruta Queen is currently second favourite for the 2011 Golden Slipper on April 2, 2011, paying odds of $7.50 to win at Luxbet.

Current favourite for the 2011 Golden Slipper is Peter Snowden’s Sepoy, who won all three legs of the 2011 Blue Diamond, and is currently paying $2.40 at Luxbet.

If Karuta Queen runs in the Black Opal, which seems probable considering she has drawn barrier 11 for her other option; the Sweet Embrace Stakes, Hot Snitzel will be a sure starter in the 2011 Skyline Stakes.

Also included in the 2011 Skyline Stakes final field is Clarry Conner’s Irish Times, Steven Wilson’s Alkie and John Thompson’s Boys On Tour.
