Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2011 Randwick City Stakes final field has been released today and has revealed 10 runners will compete in the race this Saturday March 12, 2011.
The Group 3 Randwick City Stakes is a stayers race run over 2,120 metres and is a quality handicap open to horses aged three-years-old and upwards.
Worth $125,000, the 2011 Randwick City Stakes will feature as Race 5 at Warwick Farm and will jump at 3.40pm (AEDST).
Odds and betting information will be available at Luxbet in the coming days.
Included in the field is Gai Waterhouse’s Lorne Dancer, who will be looking to make amends for a disappointing preparation so far where he has failed to finish better than fifth.
The Danehill Dancer gelding is a past Group 3 winner, winning the 2008 Craven Plate over 2,000 metres.
However, the six-year-old gelding has failed to win a race in over 12 months, with his last win being in the Betting Auditorium Stakes on January 9, 2010.
Lorne Dancer has won eight of his 18 starts in total and has accumulated almost $370,000 in prize money.
Lorne Dancer has been allocated the heaviest weight of the field, and will carry 58 kilograms in the 2011 Randwick City Stakes.
He will jump from barrier two and be ridden by jockey Nash Rawiller.
Also included in the 2011 Randwick City Stakes final field is Jim Conlan’s Larry’s Never Late.
Larry’s Never Late has won seven of his 29 starts and earned more than $550,000 in prize money.
The Pentire gelding finished seventh in the Antler Luggage Handicap at Flemington last start, but won the Group 3 Launceston Cup in February, 2010, and has placed in four other Group races, including a Group 1.
Larry’s Never Late has a win percentage of 24% and has posted victories over a variety of distances from 1,000 metres to 2,400 metres.
Larry’s Never Late will carry 56.5 kilograms in the 2011 Randwick City Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Glen Boss.
Chris Waller’s Beijing Boy is also part of the 2011 Randwick City Stakes final field.
Beijing Boy has won two of his seven starts so far this prep, but has only finished worse than second twice.
The Yamanin Vital gelding has won eight of his 21 career starts and has a win percentage of 38%.
Beijing Boy has drawn barrier one for the Randwick City Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Brenton Avdulla.
