Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes will be one of five Group races to take place at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Randwick Guineas Day this Saturday March 12, 2011, and the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes nominations have now been released.
The Sweet Embrace Stakes is a Group 3 race open to two-year-old fillies only and is run over 1,200 metres.
Worth $125,000, the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes requires its entire field to carry a set 55.5 kilograms.
Included in the 17 horses that have nominated for a spot in the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes is early Golden Slipper hopeful Karuta Queen.
Karuta Queen has competed in four races in her young career, winning all four of them and earning herself an astounding $1.35 million in prize money.
The Not A Single Doubt filly won her last start in the $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions on January 15 and is looking for her fifth straight win in the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes ahead of the 2011 Golden Slipper on April 2, 2011.
Karuta Queen’s trainer, Neville Layt, understands just how talented his filly is, likening her to superstar Black Caviar.
”I was talking to Peter Moody on the Gold Coast about her, and he told me that she could be my Black Caviar,” Layt said.
”He said you get good horses but you only get one freak, and that’s what (Karuta Queen) is. She is my Black Caviar.”
Neville Layt will choose whether or not to run his freakishly talented filly depending on how she draws in the barriers.
”I won’t be getting another one like her and I would love it if she can go through the season unbeaten,” Layt said.
Karuta Queen needs to earn another $20,000 to gain entry into the 2011 Golden Slipper, as she has only $86,000 in the bank for the Slipper order of entry because her previous two wins in the Wyong Slipper and the Magic Millions were restricted races.
Odds for Karuta Queen in the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes, as well as Golden Slipper future markets, are available at Luxbet.
Also included in the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes nominations is John Thompson’s Pane In The Glass.
Pane In The Glass has won all of her three previous races, and won her last start in the Inglis Classic by an astonishing 6 lengths.
The Testa Rossa filly has previously won over the 1,200 metres distance and will be hoping to continue her winning streak with a win in the 2011 Sweet Embrace Stakes.
Also amongst the 2011 Sweet Embrace nominations is Gai Waterhouse’s Shared Reflections, David Payne’s Defiant Dame and John O’Shea’s Elite Falls.
