Flemington March 12 Nominations – 2011 Kewney Stakes

Nominations have now been released for the 2011 Kewney Stakes which is due to run this Saturday March 5, 2011, at Flemington Racecourses.

The 2011 Kewney Stakes is a Group 2 race that will be run over 1,400 metres and is open to three-year-old fillies only.

Run under set-weight conditions, the 2011 Kewney Stakes is worth $500,000 in total prize money.

This year, 24 horses have nominated for a start in the 16 horse field, including last year’s VRC Crown Oaks winner Brazilian Pulse.

Brazilian Pulse has won four of her six race starts so far and has never once failed to place.

The Captain Rio filly won her first ever start by an astonishing seven lengths and already has two Group wins and two Group placings to her name.

Odds for Brazilian Pulse and the rest of the fillies nominated for the 2011 Kewney Stakes will be available at Luxbet closer to race time.

Also amongst the 2011 Kewney Stakes nominations is Lee Freedman’s Ain’tnofallenstar, who is fresh off a last start victory in the Listed Nitschke Stakes, where she won by 1.3 lengths.

Ain’tnofallenstar may have no previous experience in Group races, but she is no stranger to success, winning three of her nine starts so far.

Trainer Lee Freedman is hoping for a good performance in the 2011 Kewney Stakes after his filly showed her ability second-up last start.

“We’ll bring her back to Melbourne now for the Kewney Stakes and on that performance she should run a good race,” said Lee Freedman said after the Nitschke Stakes.

Miss Gai Flyer will be looking to make it three out of three this preparation, after already winning both the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes and the Typhoon Tracy M.V.F. Plate last month.

The Flying Spur filly has won four of her eight career starts and has finished second in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate in April, 2010.

Also nominated for the 2011 Kewney Stakes are Mark Kavanagh’s Kittens, Peter Snowden’s Divorces, Lee Freedman’s Iridescente and Peter Moody’s Sayahailmary and Zelsnitz.
