Aloha produces impressive run to win the Group 3 PFD Food Services Stakes

Hot favourite Aloha has won the 2011 PFD Food Services Stakes at Flemington today. As Race 5 on the Australian Guineas Day card, the Group 3 PFD Food Services Stakes saw a field of nine three-year-old and up fillies and mares run over 1400m.

After a very even start from the field, Im Discreet moved up to take the early lead from Dane Julia and Returntosender.

Around the home turn Im Discreet still held strong at the front before Glen Boss produced a beautiful ride onboard Aloha to move comfortably through the field to claim the victory by 2 lengths.

A strong finishing Flying Tessie, who was last for the majority of the race, could not catch Aloha and finished second. Early leader Im Discreet held on for third with Impressive Eagle fourth.

Aloha’s win gives trainer Mick Price his second win of the day after Dubleanny won race 3.

It is still undecided where Aloha will go to next, with Mick Price stating that the Group 1 Coolmore Classic at Randwick in two weeks time might be too tough and that there might be softer options in Adelaide.
