2011 Listed Streets Ice Cream Stakes Results – Flemington Race 1

Flemington Race 1 Saturday 5 March

Golden Archer (second from the rail) has won Race 1 at Flemington, just pipping Kid Kobe (on the rail)

Race 1 at Flemington today on Australian Guineas Day has been won by Golden Archer.

The Listed Streets Ice Cream Stakes, a 1000m race up the Flemington straight, saw a field of nine 2-year-olds start.

Peter Moody’s colt Golden Archer jumped well with jockey Luke Nolen, with Predator taking the lead early before Vatican moved up. With 200m to go Golden Archer moved up along with Retsina, Kid Kobe and Fortunes Of War. On the line it was a blanket finish with 5 horses across the track and a photo was need to determine the placings.

In the end #1 Golden Archer was given the nod in a time of 57.76 seconds, slightly ahead of a strong #7 Kid Kobe who looked to have the win. #10 Fortune Of War grabbed third with #11 Resina finishing fourth.

Golden Archer was back well and paid $4.00 for the win at Luxbet, a slight favourite ahead of Fortunes Of War and Restina in the betting markets.

According to trainer Peter Moody Golden Archer could next head to the Listed St Albans Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday 18th March.
