Can Aloha Win The 2011 PFD Food Service Stakes?

Mick Price’s classy mare Aloha will be running in the 2011 PFD Food Service Stakes on Flemington’s Australian Guineas Day this Saturday March 5, 2011.

The Group 3 PFD Food Service Stakes is worth $150,000 and is open to fillies and mares aged three-years-old and upwards.

Aloha

Can Aloha win the Group 3 PFD Food Service Stakes at Flemington?

Superstar in the making Aloha is set to contest the 1400m PFD Food Service Stakes this Saturday in the effort to make it four wins in a row.

The Encosta De Lago mare will be first-up in the 2011 PFD Food Service Stakes after finishing her last preparation with a win in the Listed Lord Stakes on December 26, 2011.

Aloha won five of her seven starts in total last preparation and has won six of her 15 career starts to date.

The four-year-old mare has also won on all track conditions except for Fast, proving her versatility.

The budding star won her last start in the Listed Lord Stakes by a phenomenal three lengths, and has claimed her last three victories by a minimum 2.5 lengths each time.

Aloha is currently overwhelming favourite at Luxbet, paying odds of $2.15 for the win.

Russell Cameron’s I’m Discreet and Matthew Williams’ Flying Tessie are currently equal second favourite at Luxbet, each paying $7.50 for the win.

Flying Tessie has won five of 20 career starts and has twice placed in Group 3 races.

However the Testa Rossa mare has not won a race since the Big6 Handicap at Flemington on November 3, 2009.

I’m Discreet has won six of his 14 starts so far, giving him a higher win percentage than Aloha (43%), but has failed to win a race since March 27, 2011.

Like Aloha, I’m Discreet has won at Stakes level and will most likely be one of her toughest competitors in the 2011 PFD Food Service Stakes.

However, with Aloha in such stellar form, it appears likely that she will be a class above the rest of the 2011 PFD Food Service Stakes field.

Aloha has drawn barrier one for the 2011 PFD Food Service Stakes, will be ridden by Glen Boss and will carry 56.5 kilograms.
