2011 Liverpool City Cup Tips & Odds – Chipping Norton Stakes Day Betting

One of the major feature races on the 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes Day programme at Warwick Farm this Saturday is the $125,000 Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) and here the Races.com.au team have the best Liverpool City Cup tips and betting.

Scheduled to take place as Warwick Farm Race 7 at 5:05pm (AEDST) this Saturday March 5, the 2011 Liverpool City Cup has attracted a near capacity field of horses many of which are vying for the Doncaster Mile ballot exemption on offer for the winner.

Current favourite in the Liverpool City Cup odds at Luxbet is #11 Triple Elegance paying $4.

Prepared by top Sydney trainer Chris Waller, Mossman four-year-old Triple Elegance has drawn the inside running for Saturday set to start from barrier one with Jim Cassidy in the mount.

A lightweight chance allocated just 53.5kg, Triple Elegance is also one of only two last-start winners in this year’s Liverpool City Cup field along with $101 roughie Keepin’ The Dream.

Seeking their second win on the trot, Triple Elegance enjoyed an emphatic 6 ½ length victory over 1500m at Rosehill on February 5 but is as yet untested in a black-type and the Liverpool will be their first Group assignment.

Luxbet have Triple Elegance as a $31 chance in their 2011 Doncaster Mile odds, the shortest price of any of the Doncaster Mile hopefuls running in the Liverpool City Cup on Saturday.

There are, however, a number of genuine gallopers and proven Group performers in the Liverpool Cup and we have another runner rated special to win – #6 Graceful Anna.

Graceful Anna

Our 2011 Liverpool City Cup tip to win is #6 Graceful Anna

Warwick Farm Race 7 Tips – 2011 Liverpool City Cup Betting

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #6 Graceful Anna – Rated Special to Win – Bet now at Luxbet
  • Best Place / Exotic Bets: #1 Pinwheel, #5 Ahdashim and #2 News Alert

The David Pfieffer-trained Graceful Anna is out wider in barrier 10 due to be ridden by Corey Brown, but has the talent and form to overcome their wider draw and claim an upset on Saturday.

A good record of two wins from four starts over the 1300m, Canny Lad mare Graceful Anna is coming off two second place finishes at Group level giving her a nice advantage over many of her rivals.

On February 12 the four-year-old was second behind superstar More Joyous in the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) before beaten by a narrow margin in the Group 3 Millie Fox Quality (1300m) last start at Rosehill on February 26.

Genuine gate speed should see Graceful Anna spear across and find the front early to lead nearly all-the-way here as she tried to do after straightening last start.

Graceful Anna is paying $6 to become the Liverpool City Cup winner in 2011 through Luxbet, a very backable price that we recommend punters jump on now considering she has beaten the likes of No Evidence Needed, Love Conquers All and Shoot Out over her career.

Peter Snowden’s Lonhro five-year-old Pinwheel, $5 second favourite in the Liverpool City Cup markets, is our other top pick from the field with the highest Place Rate of the field (47%).

A gelding that doesn’t know how to run a bad race, Pinwheel is drawn one inside of Graceful Anna set to jump from gate nine with Hugh Bowman aboard.

After winning the Listed Canterbury Classic (1100m) first-up on January 14, Pinwheel produced another eye-catching run last-start finishing a game second in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

To finish off the winning Liverpool City Cup Trifecta we are tipping #5 Ahdashim, drawn nicely in barrier four and an excellent chance over the 1300m.

Gerald Ryan’s Elusive City gelding took out the Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m) on New Years’ Day at Flemington and was not disgraced running fourth in the Southern Cross last start on February 12.

For punters keen to get in on the exotic Box Trifecta and First Four markets at Luxbet, we recommend adding #2 News Alert into the equation.
