There were 19 initial nominations for the 2011 Boag’s Lord Reims Stakes but the final field is now down to nine horses.
The Group 3 race over 2600m is worth $115,000 as well as direct entry to the Adelaide Cup.Of the large kiwi contingent initially showing interest just one remains, the top weight Guyno.
He is being pushed towards the Adelaide Cup making this an ideal lead up race to win and will have every chance from barrier one.
He won the Mornington Cup last start and came second in the Perth Cup the race before, an event he won in 2009.
Hot on his heels though will be the six-year-old mare Maunatrice which has won her last four in a row.
She is two kilos better off in weight with 54kgs and will have a good start from barrier three.
Lady Avacan is also one to keep an eye on with just 53.5kgs from gate seven.
She was beaten five lengths by Maunatrice last start but showed tremendous late pace and will revel in the increased distance.
She was caught dead last of 13 runners with 400m to go but stormed home to eventually claim fourth place.
