Australian Guineas Day Nominations – 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality

Twenty-one horses have been nominated for the 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality that will take place on Australian Guineas Day this Saturday March 5, 2011.

The Listed Roy Higgins Quality will be run at Flemington Racecourse over 2,600 metres and is worth $150,000 in prize money.

Odds for the 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality will be available at Luxbet closer to the race date.

Vesper

2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality field nominations includes Vesper

Robert Hickmott is the best represented trainer in the nominations, with four horses including Bolton, Muir, Upon and Vesper.

Four-year-old gelding Upon has won his last three races in a row this preparation and will be hoping for his first Stakes level win.

The Reset gelding has won five of his eight previous starts and has never finished out of the placings.

Upon’s stablemate Vesper is fresh off a win in the Listed Clamms Seafood Victoria Gold Cup last Saturday February 26, 2011.

While the Zabeel gelding has never contested the 2,600 metre distance, he is sure to be one of the early favourites to take out the 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality.

Vesper has won four of his 11 starts and has accrued almost $160,000 in prize money.

Peter Moody’s Macedonian has also been nominated for the 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality.

Macedonian has won five of his twenty races and finished fourth last start in the Listed Mornington Cup on February 16.

The Zabeel gelding has tasted success twice this preparation, including a win in the Sandown Cup on November 13, 2011.

Russell Cameron will be hoping his mare Zauberin can go one better in the 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality after finishing second last start in the Listed Port Adelaide Cup at Morphettville.

Zauberin has won just three of her 23 starts, but is multiple Listed race placed.

Also nominated is Darren Weir’s Streaky Fella, Peter Moody’s Pass Me By, Tony Noonan’s Mateo and Mark Kavanagh’s King Diamond.
