Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
It’s a case of déjà vu in the 2011 Silver Slipper with the favourite all week Satin Shoes rewarding her backers by winning again and retaining her unbeaten streak.
It was a similar story for Elite Falls who’s run second to Satin Shoes yet again however will have turned many heads in the manner it was done.
From the gates Satin Shoes went to the front in close vicinity to her biggest rival according to punters in Straight Gold.
As they made their way around the turn Straight Gold was all over the place really showing his inexperience alongside a much more composed Satin Shoes.
At that stage Elite Falls wasn’t in the race but had set up a good run which was to come later.
Half way along the strait the race looked all over with Satin Shoes in a brilliant rhythm out in front and Straight Gold never really managing to settle down.
The big move though and the one that will surely influence Golden Slipper betting came from Elite Falls making up huge ground late.
Another 100m and she would have caught Satin Shoes but maybe there’s a case saying the winning filly switched off a little towards the end.
The final margin was very close though and it’d be a brave person to discount Elite Falls at this stage despite being beaten twice in a row.
From here of course the charge continues towards the Golden Slipper and Satin Shoes is expected to be a favourite depending how well Sepoy runs in today’s Blue Diamond Stakes.
As we picked earlier in the week Al’s Magic Miss was a lot better than her $51 odds and rounded out the first four.
- 1st #9 Satin Shoes
- 2nd #11 Elite Falls
- 3rd #5 Straight Gold
