2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Day Field Scratchings

Blue Diamond Stakes Day will begin when Race 1 jumps at 12.30pm (AEDST) today at Caulfield Racecourse.

Nine exciting races are scheduled for the day, seven of them being at Group level.

The three major Group 1 races of the day; the Futurity Stakes, the Oakleigh Plate and the Blue Diamond Stakes, have only seen one scratching.

Star Witness, one of the early favourites to win the 2011 Oakleigh Plate, has been unexpectedly scratched from the race.

Star Witness’ trainer, Danny O’Brien, has commented in recent days that he was more than happy with his horse’s barrier draw (10) and no explanation has been released as yet to explain why the champion colt has been withdrawn from the 2011 Oakleigh Plate.
