Pinker Pinker

Pinker Pinker wins the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield

The first Group race of the day has won by Greg Eurell’s Pinker Pinker in the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes.

Jumping as Race 3 on Blue Diamond Stakes Day, the Group 3 Angus Armanasco Stakes is a 1,400 metre race open to three-year-old fillies only.

Pinker Pinker won the $180,000 Angus Armanasco Stakes in Race 3 at Caulfield, after placing third in the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes last start.

The race began when Sayahailmary jumped to the lead early and Zelsnitz was caught three wide in third position.

Sayahailmary was leading by two lengths down the home straight until Pinker Pinker burst from the middle of the field to win the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes.

Sayahailmary did well to hang on for second after setting the pace in an extremely quick 1,400 metres that saw the winner run just outside Exceed And Excel’s course record.

Sistine Angel did well to run home for a respectable third.

Pinker Pinker will now be taken to Sydney to contend some of their best races, with Greg Eurrell confident about his filly’s ability to perform in any conditions, including the wet.

Peter Moody’s Zelsnitz had a nightmare run that saw her caught three wide for most of the race.

Zelsnitz began as favourite for the $180,000 Angus Armanasco Stakes, paying odds of $4.60 at Luxbet.

Zelsnitz is nominated for the 2011 Australian Guineas and will be attempting to take on Black Caviar in the 2011 Newmarket Handicap, and was hoping for a much better lead-up performance in the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes.
