Race 7 at Morphettville tomorrow Saturday February 26, 2011, will feature the 2011 Adelaide Galvanising H.C. Nitschke Stakes.
The Listed H.C. Nitschke Stakes will be run over 1,400 metres and is open to three-year-old colts, fillies and geldings only.
The race is worth $80,000 and will jump at 5.20pm (AEDST).
The Races.com.au team have put together the best tips available, and we believe that the Commands gelding Servant has the goods to win the 2011 Listed H.C. Nitschke Stakes.
Servant may have only won two of his previous seven starts, but has placed second in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes and has plenty of Group level experience.
Trained by Peter Moody, the three-year-old gelding finished sixth last start in the Autumn Stakes at Caulfield.
We believe Servant is the biggest danger in the 2011 Listed H.C. Nitschke Stakes, and he is currently favourite at Luxbet, paying $3.50 for the win.
We also like the look of Mark Kavanagh’s Beckenbauer, who finished second in his last two starts at Morphettville over 1,200 metres.
The Hussonet three-year-old has shown indication that he is better suited to a longer distance, and we think the 1,400 metre Listed H.C. Nitschke Stakes will suit him perfectly.
The gelding has never before contested this distance but is currently at third favourite with Luxbet paying $7.50.
For third, the Races.com.au team is tipping the Rock of Gibraltar three-year-old Addiction To Rock.
Addiction To Rock has won his only attempt at the 1,400 metres distance and has only failed to place once out of five times at this track.
Any rain will help the three-year-old gelding’s chances, as he is best suited to a slow or heavy track.
Addiction To Rock has been unlucky to draw barrier 17 for the 2011 Listed H.C. Nitschke Stakes and will carry 55 kilograms.
