Blue Diamond Stakes Day Betting – Caulfield Race 2 Victoria Gold Cup Tips
The opening black-type feature on the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Day programme this Saturday is Caulfield Race 2, the $100,000 Listed Victoria Gold Cup (2000m), and here the Races.com.au have the winning Victoria Gold Cup tips.
Known this year as the Clamms Seafood Cup, the 2011 Victoria Gold Cup field features eight horses lead by clear favourite in the betting markets Vesper.
Robert Hickmott’s Zabeel four-year-old Vesper is sitting at a quote of around $2.80 in the Luxbet odds, set to jump from barrier six with Nicholas Hall in the mount.
The punters are getting behind Vesper in their Group race debut in the Victoria Gold Cup after the gelding ran a close third to King Diamond over 2000m at Flemington last start on February 9, beaten less than a length.

Above Average is one of two runners in the Victoria Gold Cup for Lee Freedman this year.
First-up for the season on Saturday, the well-bred High Chaparral five-year-old showed great for in the spring running second to Precedence in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m) on October 23 and most recently was runner-up in the Sandown Cup.
Distance is ideal for Above Average, they have a decent first-up record and are well weighted with 55.5kg making them a great bet to win at around $4.60 in the Luxbet markets.
For the placings Vesper has the class to run second while we are tipping Down Under Boy to finish off the winning Victoria Gold Cup Trifecta.
Six-year-old Down Under Boy comes into Saturday’s showdown off consistently strong form, they are allocated just 53.5kg and have carried up to 58.5kg to place in recent runs and have the ideal barrier two draw with Craig Williams booked for the ride.
The 2011 Clamms Seafood Victoria Gold Cup is due to jump at 1:10pm (AEDST) at Caulfield on Saturday.
