Blue Diamond Stakes Day – 2011 Oakleigh Plate Betting Update

Blue Diamond Stakes Day will this year feature an action packed Oakleigh Plate, which is one of the three Group 1 races running this Saturday February 26, 2011.

The 2011 Oakleigh Plate is worth $400,000 and will be run over 1,100 metres at Caulfield Racecourse.

18 horses will line up to compete in the 2011 Oakleigh Plate, including the three current favourites; Catapulted, Undeniably and Star Witness.

Current favourite at Luxbet, is Mark Kavanagh’s Catapulted, who is paying $5 for the win after opening at $4.60.

The Catbird gelding is looking in superior form after his last start win in the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield.

Catapulted has won 10 of his previous 19 career starts so far and is currently nominated for the 2011 Newmarket Handicap on March 12, 2011.

The five-year-old gelding has drawn barrier eight for the 2011 Oakleigh Plate and will carry the largest weight of 58 kilograms.

Currently second favourite in the line of betting at Luxbet is Mark kavanagh’s other representative Undeniably.

Undeniably opened as a $7 chance but has now been supported into odds of $5.50 at Luxbet.

Undeniably will jump from barrier 3 in the 2011 Oakleigh Plate and has only been allocated a light 53.5 kilograms.

Star Witness has failed to feature as favourite in the 2011 Oakleigh Plate, and is instead third in the market, paying odds of $7 at Luxbet.

The champion colt did originally open at odds of $7.50, but was soon backed into $7.

Star Witness will be second-up from a spell for the 2011 Oakleigh Plate, and will be looking to improve on his first-up run in which he finished third behind Enjin Number Nine in the Listed Manfred Stakes on February 9.

Star Witness has drawn barrier 10 in the 2011 Oakleigh plate and will be ridden by jockey Steven Arnold.

Also in the market is Lee Freedman’s hope First Command.

First Command originally opened as equal third favourite, paying $7.50, but has since drifted out to odds of $8.50 at Luxbet.

First Command has drawn well in the barrier draw for Saturday’s Oakleigh Plate, drawing gate three, and will be ridden by jockey Dwayne Dunn.
