Heart Of Dreams has opened as overwhelming favourite to take out the 2011 St George Stakes this Saturday February 26, 2011.
The St George Stakes is a Group 2 race worth $200,000 and will be run as part of Caulfield’s Blue Diamond Stakes Day.
The Show A Heart gelding Heart Of Dreams has been backed into $3.20 at Luxbet after his spectacular run in the C.F. Orr Stakes, which saw him run second to Typhoon Tracy by a short half head.
Heart Of Dreams has won five of his 22 career starts and will be looking for a good lead up performance to the 2011 Australian Cup, for which he is also nominated.
The Mick Price-trained five-year-old has drawn the widest barrier of 14 for the 2011 St George Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Damien Oliver.
Currently second favourite is Heart Of Dream’s stablemate Spacecraft.
After originally opening at $7 for the win at Luxbet, Spacecraft has drifted out to odds of $8.
Spacecraft will jump from gate seven and will be ridden by Glen Boss.
Tied in third place in the betting is Lord Pyrus and Ginga Dude, both paying $9 for the win at Luxbet.
Judy Mawer’s Lord Pyrus has drawn barrier five, while Graeme Boyd‘s Ginga Dude has drawn barrier three for the 2011 St George Stakes.
2009 Melbourne Cup winner Shocking is currenty paying $10 for the win at Luxbet, and has drawn barrier nine.
The five-year-old gelding will be looking to improve on his C.F. Orr Stakes run last start where he finished 11th out of a 16 horse field.
However, Shocking often performs best second-up, winning the Group 2 Makybe Diva Stakes last start after finishing a disappointing 7th in his first-up run.
