2011 Hobartville Stakes Form And Stats

The 2011 Hobartville Stakes is an exciting feature event sure to excite many on Silver Slipper Day.

The Group 2 Race 6 event is worth $200,000 and run over the 1400m distance.

Listed below is the complete form guide to get you through the weekend and help you back a few winners through Luxbet.

2011 Hobartville Stakes Form Guide

#1        Pressday (Barrier – 9)    (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Chris Waller              Jockey – Glyn Schofield

Career Stats – 9s         5w       1p

Last Start – Eighth at Randwick

This horse has never put together two bad runs in a row and there will be hefty support coming for this horse on race day. From the wide gate he will need luck with Schofield likely to settle him mid-field and work through late

#2        Skilled (Barrier – 13)   (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Peter Snowden         Jockey – n/a

Career Stats – 11s       3w       4p

Last Start – 3rd at Randwick

Third in the Royal Sovereign but without a win since April last year. Looked a good chance but barrier draw hasn’t been kind. Will try and force his way into the middle of the field but will need a run late.

#3        Retrieve (Barrier – 3)     (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Peter Snowden                     Jockey – n/a

Career Stats –  9s         4w       4p

Last Start – 3rd at Flemington

Third in the Victoria Derby and outstanding form previous as well. Only question is the first up run with an excellent barrier draw. Horse will probably settle middle to front and has to be one of the big chances.

#4        Masquerader (Barrier – 1)     (56.5kgs)

Trainer – David Payne             Jockey – n/a

Career Stats – 7s         2w       2p

Last Start – 6th at Randwick

Sixth last start and never really showed a lot. Plenty of hype around this horse but will have to run its own race from barrier 1. If the pace is hot and he tries to go with them he could burn out down the straight.

#5        Praecido (Barrier – 11)   (56.5kgs)

Trainer – David Payne             Jockey – n/a

Career Stats – 14s       1w       4p

Last Start – 11th at Randwick

Horrible last start but more consistent in previous runs. Just the one win from 14 starts has to be a big worry, especially with the wide gate. Will likely tail the field and try and find something on the straight.

#6        Ilovethiscity (Barrier – 7)     (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Grahame Begg                      Jockey – Brenton Avdulla

Career Stats – 9s         2w       3p

Last Start – 4th at Randwick

Looked ok late last start but was poor in the Caulfield Guineas previous. If last week is anything to go by he’ll sit on the tail of the field and try and charge home late. Will need to make his mover earlier to be a chance on Saturday.

#7        Top Drop (Barrier – 10)   (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Gerlad Ryan             Jockey – Nathan Berry(a)

Career Stats – 13s        2w       6p

Last Start – 5th at Randwick

There abouts at the end last week and good when placing at the Magic Millions. Doesn’t have the win stats but isn’t too away. Barrier is a query and will need to find a way near the rail, if he can don’t be surprised if the colt can be in the mix.

#8        Audacious Spirit (Barrier – 8)     (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Gillian Heinrich        Jockey – Glen Colless

Career Stats  –             8s         1w       5p

Last Start – 2nd at Randwick

Coming off two second placings, the last in the Royal Sovereign, this horse is in excellent touch. It has good early speed so should be able to get away from barrier eight. If he finds a good spot he’ll be there at the end.

#9        Somepin Anypin (Barrier – 12)   (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Gary Portelli             Jockey – Josh Adams(a)

Career Stats – 6s          3w       0p

Last Start – Won at Rosehill

Winning three of his last four this New Zealand gelding has snuck up on a few people. Won on this track at this distance last start so he can certainly run the trip. Barrier a query.

#10      American Crew (Barrier – 6)     (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Chris Waller              Jockey – Daniel Ganderton

Career Stats –  13s       1w       5p

Last Start – 2nd at Rosehill

Another coming off two second placings in a row this horse is a tough one to get a read on. Hasn’t showed the career form to figure here but you get the feeling he’s improving rapidly. Wouldn’t be here unless Chris Waller fancied his chances.

#11      Light Brigade (Barrier – 2)     (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Gai Waterhouse                    Jockey – Tom Berry

Career Stats –  5s         2w       2p

Last Start – 7th at Randwick

Last week was the first time this colt missed a place after running a sluggish seventh in the Sovereign. Seemed to just stall on the home straight after running a little wide on the turn. Barrier two ensure a good run so we’re expecting a much better run this weekend.

Bet now at Luxbet

#12      Straight Albert (Barrier – 5)     (56.5kgs)

Trainer – Michael Dobbie        Jockey – n/a

Career Stats – 6s          2w       2p

Last Start – Third at Canterbury

Two wins and a place last preparation mean this horse could spell an upset in this race. Good barrier, fresh horse, credible stats, Certainly one too look at.

Bet now at Luxbet

#13      Slow The Flow (Barrier – 4)     (54.5kgs)

Trainer – Mathew Smith                      Jockey – Rodd Quinn

Career Starts –             9s         2w       0p

Last Start – Eight at Randwick

This filly has never really got going and looks out classed in this field. Has a habit of dropping back early and trying to run on. Won’t be able to do that here and only hope is to go forward from her good barrier and try and hang on.
