2011 Futurity Stakes – Blue Diamond Stakes Day Betting

The 2011 Futurity Stakes will be the first of three Group 1 races to feature on Caulfield’s Blue Diamond Stakes Day this Saturday February 26, 2011.

Due to jump as Race 5 at 3.10pm (AEDST), the 1400m Futurity Plate has attracted a ten horse field all hoping for their share of the $500,000 prize money on offer.

Currently the shortest priced favourite of the entire day is Gai Waterhouse’s More Joyous, who will be attempting to continue her winning streak with a victory in the 2011 Futurity Stakes.

More Joyous is currently paying odds of $1.55 to win at Luxbet.

The More Than Ready mare has drawn the dream barrier of one for the 2011 Futurity Stakes and will carry one of the lightest weights of 57 kilograms.

More Joyous has won 11 of her 15 career starts and has not lost a race, apart from her 5th in the 2010 Cox Plate, since finishing third in the Listed Winning Edge Presentations Stakes in August, 2009.

A long second behind More Joyous in the betting markets is Mark Kavanagh’s Whobegotyou, who is currently paying $6 for the win at Luxbet.

Whobegotyou has drawn the widest barrier of ten for the 2011 Futurity Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Damien Oliver.

Third favourite for the 2011 Futurity Stakes, presently paying $9.50 for the win at Luxbet, is Ortensia.

Ortensia, trained by Tony Noonan, has won eight of her 24 starts and is coming off a third placing in the Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes last start.

The Testa Rossa mare has drawn barrier five in the 2011 Futurity Stakes and jockey Mark Zahra has the ride.

Also in the market is Stephen McKee’s King Mufhasa and Peter Moody’s Doubtful Jack, each paying $12 at Luxbet for the win.
