2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Day Betting – Listed Clamms Seafood Cup

The 2011 Listed Clamms Seafood Cup, or the Listed Victoria Gold Cup as it was previously known, will run as Race 2 on Blue Diamond Stakes Day this Saturday February 26, 2011.

The current short priced favourite is Scenic Shot, who is currently paying $2.80 for the win at Luxbet.

Scenic Shot is looking for his first win of this preparation, having been unable to finish better than 5th so far.

The Scenic gelding will be hoping to mimic last preparation when he won the Group 1 McKinnon Stakes by two lengths on 2010 Victoria Derby Day.

Scenic Shot has won 15 of his 60 career starts and has a career win percentage of 25%.

Robert Hickmott’s Vesper is a close second favourite, presently paying odds of $2.90 at Luxbet.

Vesper has won three of his 10 starts, and has accrued almost $100,000 in prize money.

The Zabeel gelding has drawn barrier six for the 2,000 metres Clamms Seafood Cup and will be ridden by jockey Nicholas Hall.

Also in the market is Lee Freedman’s Above Average, who is coming off a second placing in the Sandown Cup last November.

Above average will be first-up in the 2011 Clamms Seafood Cup and is currently paying odds of $4.80 at Luxbet.
