2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Betting Tips & Race Picks

Victoria’s richest race for two-year-olds is the $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) set to run at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday, February 26 and for all punters ready to get in on the elite betting action we have the winning 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Race Tips right here.

The 2011 Patinack Blue Diamond Stakes will run as Caulfield Race 7 on Saturday, race time scheduled as 4:30pm (AEDST).

A quality line-up of 14 gifted juveniles make up this year’s Blue Diamond Stakes field, but all the pre-race attention is focused on the highly-spruiked colt Sepoy.

Prepared by Peter Snowden, Elusive Quality two-year-old Sepoy is the raging favourite odds-on at $1.55 to become the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes winner through Luxbet.

Sepoy has it all and more to validate his short price in the Blue Diamond odds.

He is unbeaten in his three career starts to date giving him an imposing Win Rate of 100%.

Note, the only other runner in the Blue Diamond field with the same win rate is Atomic, but Lee Freedman’s lightly-raced rival has had just one start taking some of the shine off his stats.

The Blue Diamond clean sweep is on the cards (but not the million dollar bonus) for Sepoy who comes into Saturday’s showdown on the back of his emphatic 3 ½ length victories in both the Preview and Prelude.

He has drawn well in barrier five, should settle second or third in the field after jumping and be given a gun run by Kerrin McEvoy.

Is there any need to go on? Sepoys is poised to win and win well, he is the favourite that is hard to fault and impossible to bet against.

2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Tips – Caulfield Race 7 Betting

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #1 Sepoy – Rated Special to Win – Bet now at Luxbet
  • Best Place Bets: #9 Anevay and #7 Running Tall

To finish in a close second behind the favourite in the Blue Diamond on Saturday we fancy #9 Anevay.

Tim Martin’s Exceed And Excel filly Anevay is coming off a smart 1 ¾ length victory in the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on February 19.

History is on Anevay’s side as 12 months ago boom colt Star Witness scored the Talindert Stakes / Blue Diamond double with Nicholas Hall in the mount.

Hall rode Anevay to her maiden win in the Talindert, before which she finished a devastatingly close second to One Last Dance in the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview, and he is booked for the Blue Diamond as well.

Anevay also has the perfect barrier three draw which should see her hit the front and lead early, but on the line Sepoy will run her down and win in a narrow Blue Diamond Quinella.

Paying a juicy $21 to Win and $4.50 to Place through Luxbet, Anevay is one Blue Diamond bet you don’t want to miss.

For third place in the million dollar showdown we fancy #7 Running Tall ($18).

Prepared by Danny O’Brien, trainer of last year’s Blue Diamond Stakes winner Star Witness, Stratum colt Running Tall placed third on debut in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) beaten less than a length by fellow Blue Diamond rival Arctic Command on Emirates Stakes Day last year.

First-up for the season he resumed fresh and fit and finished second to runaway winner Sepoy in the Blue Diamond Prelude on February 12.

Running Tall also benefits from the inside alley in the Blue Diamond running on Saturday and must be included in all exotics at Luxbet.
