More Joyous Odds-On in 2011 Futurity Stakes Betting Markets

More Joyous

More Joyous has opened as the odds-on favourite for the 2011 Futurity Stakes

Gai Waterhouse’s brilliant mare More Joyous has opened the odds-on favourite in the 2011 Futurity Stakes betting odds this afternoon ahead of the Group 1 feature running at Caulfield this Saturday, February 26.

The $500,000 Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) is scheduled to run as Caulfield Race 5 at Blue Diamond Stakes Day on Saturday, jumping at 3:10pm (AEDST).

An ideal barrier one draw and stunning last-start win in the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) at Randwick have seen More Joyous installed as the $1.55 favourite in the Futurity Stakes betting at Luxbet.

First-up for the season in the Breeders, More Joyous simply outclassed her rivals and enjoyed a 2 ½ length win.

It was the four-year-olds 11th career victory from 15 starts giving More Joyous an imposing 73% Win Rate.

With an impressive second-up record of three victories from four attempts, regular jockey Nash Rawiller in the mount and dropping back in the weights to 57kg on Saturday, the punters are sure to come for More Joyous despite her price.

Two other runners in the 10-horse 2011 Futurity Stakes field are at single-figure odds for an upset with Whobegotyou the $6 second favourite at Luxbet followed by Ortensia paying $9.50.

The Futurity will be the first time Mark Kavanagh’s weight-for-age champion Whobegotyou has raced since placing third behind So You Think in the Cox Plate last spring.

Whobegotyou has a first-up record of one win and five seconds from six attempts and this combined with his ultra sound 80% Place Rate make him the horse to back to finish second behind More Joyous in the Futurity Stakes Quinella.

Tony Noonan’s Testa Rossa mare Ortenisa is the other early pick of the Futurity field backing up from her third place finish behind Typhoon Tracy in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes at this track and distance on February 12.

The only other Futurity Stakes hopefuls in the market are equal $12 fourth-favourites King Mufhasa and Doubtful Jack.

Pentire six-year-old King Mufhasa has drawn well for the Futurity, set to start from barrier four with Sam Spratt aboard.

The Kiwi galloper has experience on Australian racetracks having run in four Group 1 races here last year in both Sydney and Brisbane but is yet to win on our turf.

King Mufhasa is hoping to bring their scintillating New Zealand form over for the Futurity, coming off back-to-back Group 1 wins at home.

Doubtful Jack will jump just worse than midfield in the Futurity Stakes having come up with barrier six in the draw.

Peter Moody’s improving Not A Single Doubt four-year-old won a Listed race in Tasmania first-up this season before returning to Victoria to finish fifth behind his now-retired stablemate Typhoon Tracy in the CF Orr last start.

Below is a list of the current 2011 Futurity Stakes Fixed Win odds.

Head to Luxbet to jump on your favourites at the best price and check out the Fixed Place odds available on all the Futurity Stakes hopefuls too.
