Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The final field and barrier draw for the 2011 Silver Slipper has been confirmed.
There will be 13 horses battling it out for their shot at glory at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday in the $200,000 Group 2 race over 1100m.Much fancied filly Satin Shoes survived the barrier draw in fairly good shape taking gate six putting her right in the middle of the field.
The unbeaten filly will have Hugh Bowman aboard and carry a 54.5kg weight.
Runner up to Satin Shoes last start in the Widden Stakes was Elite Falls which will start from slightly wider in gate 8.
With Christian Reith on board and the same 54.5kg weight there will be no excuse for this horse to not be right on the shoulder of Satin Shoes.
Drawing Gate one was David Payne’s sole entry in the race Al’s Magic Miss. The two-year-old filly has had only the one start in a six horse field which she won easily over 1000m.
At the other end of the scale Huegill will have a tough time of it starting wide in barrier 13. His only start previous was an impressive third behind Sepoy in the Blue Diamond Preview. He had received some support earlier on but it will be interesting to see if punters abandon him after the wide draw.
It also should be noted Peter Moody’s second nomination Golden Archer is not in the final field to jump this weekend.
Other runners that have been talked about include Brett Cavanough’s Bossdon City which will have a bit of work to do from barrier nine.
Diamond To Pegasus from Tony Sergi which was victorious over this same distance last start drew the central barrier seven.
The entry from Gai Waterhouse also didn’t fare too well. Wild And Proud will need a bit of luck after starting in barrier 12.
With only two kilograms across the field weight will not play a big part in this race, however the barrier draw has thrown up a few possibilities.
With many of the fancied runner starting from wide gates it has opened up the field for some of the longer priced horses.
