2011 Hobartville Stakes Final Field & Barriers

The 2011 Hobartville Stakes final field has been released and there will be no shortage of talent on display.

Chris Waller, Peter Snowden and David Payne have all launched a double threat attack on the $200,000 Group 2 event and between them they have almost all the fancied runners.

Pressday should be suited to the Hobartville Stakes distance

Lining up for Chris Waller will be Pressday in barrier nine and American Crew from gate six.

Pressday is on route for the Australian Guineas but hit a hurdle last start when slumping to eighth in the Royal Sovereign. It’s expected the horse will be more suited to the slightly longer journey this weekend.

American Crew has only the one win from 12 starts but is coming off two tight second place finishes, one at the Rosehill track and one over the 1400m distance.

For Peter Snowden it was a mixed barrier draw with his lead charger Skilled drawing the widest gate, 13, while his other runner Retrieve was a lot luckier claiming gate three.

Skilled is also looking for an Australian Guineas spot and is in decent form after a third in the Royal Sovereign first up.

Retrieve has won four of eight career starts and impressively has only missed a placing once and that was a fourth in his debut race.

David Payne has shared mixed barrier luck as well however his main chance Masquerader has done excellently with barrier one. His other runner, New Zealand horse Praecido, is much wider in gate eleven

Masquerader was favourite last up in the Royal Sovereign but never looked in the race before crossing in sixth. However many punters will no doubt excuse that run after the impressive third in the Caulfield Guineas previous.

Praecido started badly this preparation coming last at Randwick, but did show form towards the end of last preparation with four tightly fought placings in a row.

The other notable runners are Top Drop which drew gate 10, Ilovethiscity in gate seven and Audacious Spirit, second in the Royal Sovereign and starting from barrier eight.

With so many quality runners there’s sure to be good value on the betting markets for the 2011 Hobartville Stakes. Get yourself ready by registering an account with Luxbet now and making a deposit between $100-$400. If you do they’ll match it dollar for dollar in FREE bets!
