Blue Diamond Stakes 2011 Final Field

The 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes final field of acceptors has been released by Racing Victoria this morning with a less than capacity field of 14 promising juveniles heading towards the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival’s two-year-olds’ showpiece this Saturday.

The $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) is the headline event on the bumper Caulfield race-card for Saturday, February 26.

Odds-on favourite in the Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets is Peter Snowden’s unbeaten colt Sepoy.

Sepoy is out to secure the Blue Diamond hat trick on Saturday having taken out both the Preview and Prelude at his last two starts.

However, due to the Blue Diamond Stakes Prelude field only featuring 11 colts and geldings, Sepoy is ineligible for the $1 million bonus.

Snowden’s Redoute’s Choice filly Glissade was one of the most noteworthy defectors from the Blue Diamond Stakes field leaving six fillies in contention.

Top Victorian trainer Peter Moody will be represented by two youngsters in this year’s Blue Diamond with Hallowell Belle and Metonymy both paid up for.

Hallowell Belle is second favourite in the Blue Diamond odds after her game third behind the now withdrawn One Last Dance and Glissade in the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview on February 12.

The other top fillies in the Blue Diamond Stakes this year are Exceed And Excel filly Anevay coming off a win in the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) at Flemington last Saturday and Holdontoyahorses for local trainer Mick Price.

Other notable 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes acceptors include the Lee Freedman-trained duo of Masthead and Atomic.

Written Tycoon colt Masthead won the Inglis 2YO Premier last start while Atomic, winner of the Listed Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) on debut, was a late entry into the Blue Diamond Stakes yesterday.

Also among the top fancies for the Blue Diamond after acceptances are Cranbourne galloper and Group 3 winner Arctic Command and Delago’s Lad.

The 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Barrier Draw will be released at 11:00am (AEDST) this morning and published first here at Races.com.au.

Betting markets for the Blue Diamond have been briefly suspended, so get ready to lock in your selections at the best price when odds are re-released by signing up with Luxbet now!
