The Mittys Vanity Odds Update – Lightning Stakes Day 2011 Betting

The opening Group race at today’s cracker Lightning Stakes Day programme at Flemington is the $200,000 Group 3 The Mittys Vanity (1400m) due to jump at 2:50pm (AEDST) and here we take a look at the updated The Mittys Vanity odds.

Raging favourite to win Flemington Race 4 this afternoon is the Peter Moody-trained Do Ra Mi.

After opening at $2.15 in The Mittys Vanity markets, Do Ra Mi has firmed into the odds-on favourite paying $2 through Luxbet.

Do Ra Mi is now set to start from barrier five following the early scratching of #3 She’s Got Gears.

The Savabeel filly is coming off back-to-back victories and could win today, but we wouldn’t take her at odds-on based on the depth in The Mittys Vanity field.

One rival in the field that has started to gain the attention of the punters is the favourite to win, #5 Southern Speed.

Shortening into $4 from their earlier price of $4.40, the unbeaten Adelaide filly Southern Speed is the market mover and late mail tip for the punters.

A winner of both career starts at her home track in South Australia, Southern Speed has the talent to step up and win in her Melbourne debut today so back her at Luxbet now before prices shorten.

The other The Mittys Vanity market firmer is #4 Becerra in from $26 to $21 through Luxbet.

Lee Freeman’s Al Maher filly will advantage from the Dead Flemington track today having been unlucky in running on heavy tracks at her first three career starts last year, finally finding form in the spring on better ground.

Good Flemington Race 4 place bets include:

  • #1 Shamrocker ($9.50 out to $10 Luxbet) – Resuming following their close second in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) last start on November 4.
  • #9 Absolutely ($5) – Remained steady in the odds, drawn ideally in barrier two, Michael Kent’s Redoute’s Choice filly is an untapped talent ready for a big run after impressively beating home Ambers Waltz in finishing second at Moonee Valley back in October.
