Rosehill Race 2 Results – Halekulani Wins The North Ryde RSL Club Handicap

Halekulani wins Rosehill Race 2 - The North Ryde RSL Club Handicap

Gai Waterhouse’s Halekulani has put in a solid run to win the North Ryde RSL Club Handicap in Race 2 at Rosehill Racecourse on Apollo Stakes Day.

Halekulani ran a perfect race, settling in fourth after jumping well from the barriers.

Rodney Northam’s Exploitable Doubt was caught three-wide and over-raced for the majority of the run.

La Remlap lead all the way until Halekulani took over down the straight to win the second race on Apollo Stakes day by three quarters of a length.

La Remlap held on against a challenge from Peter Snowden’s Beltane who made up good ground down the straight and ended up finishing in third.

Halekulani, who was purchased at the 2009 Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $375,000, will take home $42,000 for today’s win, which will take his total career earnings to over $100,000.

Gai Waterhouse commented prior to the race that she had been holding out on racing the three-year-old gelding, who before today had only had three starts, and had been waiting to run him in a race like the North Ryde RSL Club Handicap today.

The Encosta De Lago gelding should now feature heavily in the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival this preparation and is currently nominated for the 2011 Australian Guineas on March 5.
