Kiss From A Rose wins the 2011 Triscay Stakes

The final feature race on Apollo Stakes Day has been won by the Gai Waterhouse-trained Kiss From A Rose.

Kiss From A Rose won the Listed Triscay Stakes in Race 7 at Rosehill in champion style today.

The Encosta De Lago mare put in a brilliant run that saw her make ground quickly after jumping around midfield.

Kiss From A Rose took off and sped across to the inside rail to lead the rest of the 2011 Triscay Stakes field by two lengths.

The talented mare led by a length and a half at the home turn and couldn’t be caught as she blitzed down the straight to win ahead of Girl Hussler, who finished second, and stablemate More Strawberries, who came home for third.

Gai Waterhouse was thrilled with the performance of her two horses, particularly since the three-year-old filly More Strawberries performed so well despite carrying the heaviest weight of the field (57kg).

Kiss From A Rose had been well backed by punters and was $2.60 favourite at Luxbet.

The four-year-old mare was first-up this start after nearly a five month spell and has now won four of her six career starts.

The smart mare has only failed to place once, in March 2010, which was due to bleeding in the race.

Kiss From A Rose ran the race in a time of 1 minute and 9.55 seconds to win against a field of classy fillies and mares.
