Gai Waterhouse Stable Revived With Triscay Stakes

Gai Waterhouse is back to her brilliant best with Kiss From A Rose taking out the 2011 Triscay Stakes.

It proved to be a great race all round for the the champion trainer with More Strawberries also dashing home to a hard fought third place.

Her quinella was broken up by a determined effort from Girl Hussler in the closing stages.

Waterhouse has been first to admit her stable hasn’t been producing anywhere near as well as people have come to expect of her over the years.

It’s not just claiming the win and a place that will impress Waterhouse but more the manner in which both fillies ran the race.

Kiss From A Rose looked the winner for all money half way down the straight but tired badly in the closing stages. She really battled on to retain the victory though in a gutsy effort.

More Strawberries can’t be credited enough with her third placing after carrying a huge top weight. To finish the race in the manner she did was truly a great effort.

It’s a testament to the recent hard work being put in by the Waterhouse stable who have made a concerted effort to lift their game and bring back the big wins they are used to.

If this event is anything to go by they’re certainly on track to keep that going.
