More Joyous Blitzes 2011 Breeders Classic Field – Randwick Race 5

#1 More Joyous has executed a spectacular run to win the 2011 Breeders Classic today February 12, 2011, at Randwick in Race 5.

The champion mare convincingly won the race by two lengths ahead of #6 Graceful Anna and #4 No Evidence Needed.

More Joyous jumped well from the barriers and settled into second behind stablemate #5 Montana Flyer with Graceful Anna following in third.

Coming up to the home turn Montanna Flyer led by two lengths ahead of More Joyous, and #9 Jersey Lily was stuck three wide in the middle of the field.

#3 Miss Keepsake was a long last coming into the home turn but fought back in the home straight but found her run too late.

More Joyous sped to the lead in the home straight and was eased up on the line ahead of second place getter Graceful Anna, who had a good run, and third place getter No Evidence needed.

More Joyous won the race in 1 minute and 8.6 seconds, which is just outside the race record.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse, who was thrilled at her horses run, said that we will be seeing More Joyous appearing  in Melbourne very soon.

The 2011 Breeders Classic was More Joyous’ first run since the Cox Plate last year where she attempted to take on superstar So You Think and placed fifth.
