Typhoon Tracy remains the hot favourite to win the 2011 CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield today despite odds on the defending champ drifting out in the online bookmakers overnight.
Peter Moody’s star Red Ransom mare Typhoon Tracy was paying $2.40 to win today’s $400,000 Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) and add a sixth Group 1 victory to her impressive career record.
However with 15 other classy contenders set to face off in this year’s CF Orr Stakes field, Typhoon Tracy has drifted out slightly in the market now paying $2.45 through Luxbet.
Second favourite in the CF Orr Stakes betting is the fellow Peter Moody-trained Doubtful Jack.
The improving Not A Single Doubt four-year-old came into contention for the opening Group 1 showdown of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival with a win in the Listed TheTote.Com.Au Stakes (1200m) in Tasmania on January 27.
Doubtful Jack has also drifted out in the odds from $6.50 to $7 at Luxbet.
Market firmers in the 2011 CF Orr Stakes Betting include:
- #16 Ortensia $9.50 into $9 at Luxbet – Tony Noonan’s Testa Rossa mare drawn well in barrier six, nice 57kg weight and ready to improve second up after a fourth place finish in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) last start at Moonee Valley.
- #2 Shocking $51 into $34 at Luxbet – Odds on Mark Kavanagh’s former Melbourne Cup winner Shocking have come right in. The $34 quote to win and $9.25 price for the Street Cry five-year-old to Place today first-up are still generous, but whether the 1400m is too short for the stayer is the question.
- #9 Moudre $15 into $11 at Luxbet – One time favourite for the Caulfield Cup, Ciaron Maher’s Warrnambool galloper Moudre has been well-backed for the CF Orr overnight, the runner also resuming after taking out the Group 3 Queens Cup (2600m) at Flemington last start on Emirates Stakes Day.
- #10 Linton into $16 from $19 at Luxbet – Lloyd William’s up-and-coming Galileo grey Linton is tipped for big things this campaign and the punters are starting to warm to the four-year-old’s chances today with Linton coming up trumps with the inside alley.
The 2011 Sportingbet CF Orr Stakes is set to run as Caulfield Race 7 this afternoon jumping at 4:30pm (AEDST).
