Randwick Racecourse will be the scene of some serious horse racing tomorrow Saturday 12 February, 2011, for Royal Sovereign Stakes Day.
Race 1 is due to jump at 1.08pm (AEDST) with the Listed Widden Stakes, featuring some of the country’s best two-year-old fillies.
Current favourite, and our pick of the day, is #1 Satin Shoes, presently paying $1.75 at Luxbet.
The first Group race of the day takes place in Race 4 with the Group 3 Scream Southern Cross Stakes due to jump at 2.53pm (AEDST).
Current favourite, paying $4 at Luxbet, is Chris Waller’s #3 Shellscrape, who will be looking for a first up victory in the 2011 Southern Cross Stakes.
Our pick of the race, however, is David Payne’s #8 Cardinal Virtue who is paying generous odds of $10 at Luxbet.
Next up we have three Group 2 races in a row, with the Freeview Breeders Classic, Patinack Farm Light Fingers Stakes and David Jones Royal Sovereign Stakes as Race 5, 6 and 7.
The feature race of the day is the 2011 Royal Sovereign Stakes, which is set to take place at 4.50pm (AEDST) and is one of the best sprint tests for three-year-old colts and geldings.
Present favourite and our pick of the day is David Payne’s #3 Masquerader, who has won two of his previous six starts.
The talented colt has already claimed Group 1 glory, winning the Todman Stakes as a two-year-old in March last year.
