2011 BMW Melbourne Handicap Field & Betting

The 2011 BMW Melbourne Handicap will begin the exciting racing on offer at C.F. Orr Stakes Day at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday February 12, 2011.

The 2,000 metre race is open to fillies and mares aged three-years-old and above and is worth $70,000.

This year’s BMW Melbourne Handicap has attracted a classy nine horse field.

Our pick of the race, and current favourite at Luxbet, is #3 Gail paying $2.50 a win.

Robbie Griffith’s Gail has won three of her previous seven starts, and has only failed to place once in her career.

Gail will be jumping from barrier 3, carrying 54 kilograms and will be ridden by jockey Nicholas Hall.

Another runner in the 2011 BMW Melbourne Handicap that the Races.com.au team feels is in stellar form is Robert Smerdon’s #2 Apennine.

Apennine has only won four of her total 34 starts, but has had an impressive preparation and won her last start at Moonee Valley over 2,040 metres.

Apennine is jumping from barrier 6 and is currently second favourite at Luxbet, paying $4.80 for a win.

The Races.com.au team are also keen on #7 Harmony and #4 Rain Shadow for a place bet.

Harmony is currently paying $7 a win at Luxbet and will be jumping from barrier 8 with Luke Nolen on board.

Rain Shadow has been allocated barrier one and is paying $7 for a win at Luxbet.

Race 2 at Caulfield – BMW Melbourne Handicap Tips
