Rubiton Stakes Final Field & Barriers – 2011 CF Orr Stakes Day

The final field and barriers for the $125,000 Group 3 Rubiton Stakes (1100m), one of the seven Group races running at Caulfield’s CF Orr Stakes Day this Saturday February 12, have been released.

Reward For Effort

Reward For Effort has drawn barrier 10 for the 2011 Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield

The 2011 Rubiton Stakes has drawn a final field of 13 quality gallopers including one of the early favourites, Reward For Effort.

Peter Moody’s former Blue Diamond Stakes winning son of Exceed And Excel, Reward For Effort has suffered a blow drawing wide with barrier 10 on Saturday.

Resuming for the season, Reward For Effort looked impressive when winning a jumpout at Cranbourne on January 24 and is heading towards the $1 million Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 12.

Other early fancies in the Rubtion Stakes betting for Saturday include Peter Moody’s other runner Avenue (barrier eight), the David Payne-trained Winter King (barrier 11) and the up-and-coming Faster Son (barrier seven).

Improving Anabaa mare Avenue, who ran third to Here De Angels in the Rubiton Stakes 12 months ago, is resuming for the season having won the Listed Devin Heffernan Stakes (1300m) last start at Sandown on November 13.

Winter King may be out wide but still has genuine claims, the One Cool Cat four-year-old second-up for the season after running third to Pinwheel in the Listed Canterbury Classic (1100m).

Last year Winter King showed great promise with two second place finishes at Group level including their defeat to sprint queen Black Caviar in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 9.

Faster Son is sure to get plenty of attention from the punters for the Rubition also, the consistent Fastnet Rock gelding having won six of their seven career starts including their impressive 2 ½ length victory in the Mitty’s Open Cup (1200m) at Caulfield in October of last year.

The headline event at Caulfield on Saturday is the $400,000 Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) where defending champ Typhoon Tracy is out to break her longest ever losing streak.

CF Orr Stakes odds and the betting markets for the day’s other features including the Rubiton Stakes will open at Luxbet shortly.
