Nominations Released for 2011 W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes

Ascot Racecourse will be home to the exciting 2011 W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes this Saturday February 12, 2011.

The W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes is notorious for attracting some of Australia’s best three-year-old fillies as they contend for a shot at Group 3 glory over 1,600 metres.

Nominations have been released for the $175,000 W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes and they reveal 23 fillies are in the running for a start.

You will be able to bet on the 2011 W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes at Luxbet closer to Saturday’s race.

Tony Noonan’s Ladysea is attempting to break her maiden after placing in her first two starts.

This will be the Fusaichi Pegasus filly’s first attempt at the 1,600 metre distance.

Trainer Grant Williams is represented in the nominations three times, with his fillies Dreamaway, Favourite Star and Moonlight Bay.

Favourite Star is looking to make the 1,600 metres distance for the first time, after placing in the listed Challenge Stakes on January 29, 2011.

Darryn Pateman’s Informed Decision will be looking to make the field after failing to win or place in any of her previous three starts.

Having never run further than 1400 metres, Darryn Pateman will be hoping that she can fare better in the 1,600 metre gallop.

Sure to be one of the early favourites is David Cassidy’s Motion Pictures.

With five wins from eleven starts, the young filly has already earned close to $600,000 in prize money.

She is also one of the only fillies in the race to have previously covered the 1,600 metres distance.

The classy filly will be looking to turn her luck around at the 2011 W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes after a disappointing Spring Campaign where she failed to win a race.

Motion Pictures is also nominated for the Magic Millions Perth 3yo Trophy (1400m) on the same day, so whether she will run in the 2011 W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes is unclear until acceptances are released later in the week.

Also featuring in the nomination are Fred Kersley‘s Ihtsatune, Daniel Pearce‘s Lauradane and Joe Miller‘s Digital Blackout.
