More Joyous Will Contend The 2011 Breeders Classic

The final field has been released for the 2011 Breeders Classic that will be run this at Randwick this Saturday February 12, 2011.

More Joyous heads the stellar line-up, with much anticipation surrounding the champions mare’s return after a spell.

Despite being allocated the highest weight of 57.5 kilograms, More Joyous has drawn the dream barrier of one for the $175,000 race.

More Joyous’ trainer, Gai Waterhouse, has complete confidence in her mare’s ability to win not only the 2011 Breeder’s Classic, but every other race this prep.

“(More Joyous) is absolutely sensational,” Ms Waterhouse said.

“I think she will go through her preparation unbeaten.”

Odds will be released for More Joyous and the rest of the 2011 Breeders Classic field closer to the race time at Luxbet.

Hopes of an exciting showdown between More Joyous and reigning New South Wales Horse of the Year Melito have disappeared with Melito’s trainer choosing not to accept for this year’s Breeder’s Classic.

Trainer Gerald Ryan believes that Melito is not quite fit enough for a first up race at the 2011 Breeders Classic.

“She’ll either resume next week in the Triscay or the following week in the Millie Fox,” Ryan said.

Gerald Ryan will not go unrepresented, with his classy mare Strawberry Field amongst the acceptances.

Gerald Ryan decided against running Strawberry Fields in the Group 3 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes for a shot at the Group 2 Breeders Classic instead.

“It’s a good field but she’s a good mare,” Ryan said about Strawberry Field’s chances at the 2011 Breeders Classic.

“She’ll run very well on Saturday.”

Strawberry Field has drawn the wide barrier of  nine for the 1,200 metres race and will be ridden by Hugh Bowman.

Joseph Pride’s impressive mare Sacred Choice will be hoping to provide an inspiring first up run in the 2011 Breeders Classic.

The five-year-old Choisir mare has a win percentage of 32% and has already earned a very respectable $684,000 in prize money during her 25 career starts.

Jockey Glyn Schofield, who will be riding Sacred Choice in the 2011 Breeders Classic, is very happy with the way his horse is going.

She wasn’t asked to do a great deal but she felt really sharp underneath me,” Schofield said about Sacred Choice’s performance in the Show County Quality (1200m) last preparation.

“Joe is very happy with her so I am as well.”

Sacred Choice will be carrying 57 kilograms and has drawn barrier two for the 2011 Breeders Classic.

Also amongst the acceptances is Les Bridge’s Jersey Lily and David Pfieffer’s Graceful Anna.
