Final Field & Barrier Draw – 2011 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes

This Saturday February 12, 2011, will be an exhilarating day of racing at Caulfield with the 2011 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes taking place as one of seven Group races run on the day.

The 2011 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes has attracted a field of 16 plus two emergencies, with some of the best mare sprinters in the country included.

The Group 3 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes takes place over 1,200 metres and is worth over $125,000.

Impressive mare Varenna Miss is among those to confirm for the 2011 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes.

Tony Noonan, Varenna Miss’ trainer, will be wanting to add to his mare’s stellar race record, which boasts three wins from four starts.

Noonan feels that his horse responds well to opposition from the field and believes Varenna Miss should be able to outrun anything that challenges her.

“Once that horse (Perfect Hostess in the City of Glen Eira Handicap (1100m)) challenged she picked up a gear and she’s been able to do that twice where she looked vulnerable and won both times.,” Noonan said.

“It was a pretty good effort.”

Peter Snowden’s Beaded is hoping to continue her impressive first-up record with a win at the 2011 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes.

The Darley-owned mare has a win percentage of 50%, and has failed to finish in the placing only once during her 16 start career.

Beaded ran only once during the spring when she finished second to Whitefriars in the Salinger Stakes at Flemington.

Danny O’Brien’s four-year-old mare Pins On Ice is one of the horses to be given a guaranteed start.

Pins on Ice will be looking to make amends after running 12th in her last start in last month’s Riverside Handicap (1400m) at Flemington.

The two current emergencies for the 2011 Hyderabad R.C. Stakes are Jim Conlan’s Perfect Hostess, who finished second to Varenna Miss last start, and Shaun Dwyer’s Disputed Bid.

Other horses to make the field include John Thompson’s Small Minds, Lee Freedman’s Dane Julia and Peter Boynton’s La Bella Roo.
