This year’s Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) will take place this Saturday February 12, 2011, with nominations being released today.
The 2011 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) will be run over a distance of 1,100 metres and is the all-fillies version of the Blue Diamond Prelude (Colts and Geldings) that will take place on the same day.
Odds for both races will be available at Luxbet closer to the race day.
22 of the country’s best two-year-old fillies have been nominated for the 2011 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies), including Peter Snowden’s Glissade.
Peter Snowden feels that his filly has had the perfect preparation for the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies).
”She’s had a little freshen up and been working well the reverse way on the farm (Agnes Banks), so I’m sure she’ll be competitive,” Snowden said.
Peter Moody has nominated four horses for the race, including Amour Cache, Hallowell Belle, Metonymy and One Last Dance.
One Last Dance was the winner of the recent 2011 Blue Diamond Preview.
“Fitness isn’t an issue but I think she’ll need that experience so she’ll be here again in a fortnight and hopefully we’ll push on,” Peter Moody said of the Blue Diamond Prelude after her last race.
“I think she’ll be better with a sit and coming late.”
Mark Kavanagh has also nominated his Encosta De Lago filly Quench The Thirst for the 2011 Blue Diamond Prelude.
Quench The Thirst, who has impeccable bloodlines including stakes-placed Monsoon Wedding who is sister to the infamous Redoute’s Choice, is in perfect form according to her trainer.
“She is coming into this race in better condition than last start,” Moody said.
Also nominated is Leigh Childs’s Suite Success and Mick Price’s Holdontoyahorses, which has won both of its previous two starts.
The final field for the 2011 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) will be released later in the week.
