Centennial Park produces upset to win the 2011 Expressway Stakes

Centennial Park has caused an upset in the 2011 Expressways Stakes at Rosehill today, beating home more fancied rivals with an impressive run. Running as Race 6 today at Rosehill, on the last race meeting run by the Sydney Turf Club before the merger with the AJC begins on Monday, the $200,000 Expressway Stakes featured a field of just six horses.

Race favourite Hot Danish lead for most of the 1200m race but could only manage third after a strong run home by Centennial Park and Love Conquers All. A photo was needed to decide the minor placings, with Love Conquers All getting the nod ahead of the star mare.

5-year-old Thorn Park gelding Centennial Park, trained by David Payne, has had 24 career starts for 7 wins and adds $130,000 in prize money to their total with today’s win. Centennial Park was riden by Corey Brown and paid $11.60 for the win with Luxbet.
